Setting Out What You Must Do

Now that the website you’ve worked so very hard to set up is finally here, the last thing you want to do is rest on your laurels, even though you probably deserve to do exactly that. There’s nothing for the first-timer quite like putting together a blog or website that looks as crisp as you’ve envisioned it, especially if you never really thought of yourself as an active “internet-contributor”.

Now comes the sober realization: your website is one of well over a hundred million. It won’t likely ever get daily double-digit traffic, unless you market it, or unless you used keywords with virtually nonexistent competition – and usually nonexistent demand. So the next thing to do is roll those sleeves back up and get to work writing articles.

The Double Threat – Article Writing

Writing articles based on your blog posts accomplishes two very important things:

  1. The hyperlinks back to your site give you what people in the search engine optimization (SEO) business call link juice.
  2. If you submit your article to a high PageRank directory and are accepted, you get the benefit of direct traffic, as well.

Both of the above attributes combine to potentially rocket your site up in the search results. For keywords with low competition – as in, there aren’t very many web-pages, or very many good web-pages, on them – a single article or two can get you to the first page of Google. If you are blogging about something that doesn’t yet have a lot of competition, but many people are looking for it, then you have just struck a goldmine.Writing articles is a way to effectively advertise your website to both people and search engines.

An Article Writing Strategy

I’d be the first to admit that when I first started understood the importance of article writing and the subsequent article marketing, I was a bit daunted and even let out a groan.More writing! But I already covered this!Try re-reading your post an hour after you wrote it; I would almost guarantee that you notice some things you might have added that would be highly relevant to it.This likelihood alone is the crux of a possible article writing strategy. Before long, you will have a separate Word Document open on your computer, so that you can jot down notes for the articles you can write later related to the post you are crafting at the moment. There have been particularly spirited blog writing sessions (a blog usually takes me less than half-an-hour to write) during which I came up with 4 unique articles, and wrote them on the spot, with each short paragraph I wrote for the blog, itself! In two hours, I had essentially completed an entire article marketing campaign, which would be enough to perhaps send my post to the single-digits of Google’s search results pages for low-competition keywords.

Another similar article marketing strategy that is tried and true for me is to plan out a post for my blog.During the planning stages – which takes all of ten minutes or so – as well as during the actual writing, I jot down up to 5 ideas (average is 3) about a single sentence long in an notepad open on my laptop, of how to structure an article to expand on a particular point in the blog. This way, by the time I’m done with my post, I in effect have already started on the articles and can count on 5 do-follow hyperlinks pointing back to my website (assuming, of course, all my articles are accepted by article directories). You can use these ideas, or come up with your own that suit your writing and thinking styles better. The point is, however, that article marketing is a must for those wanting to get their sites ranked well.Start today; I look forward to seeing you on one of the first two or three pages of Google!
